Learning to Fly My Drone

I created this piece in part to demonstrate how far my drone and editing skills have come. This begins while on vacation in Utah and Idaho and ends back in Montana with some local hiking destinations as well as a secret destination on the Gallatin River. After it seems to end there is a quick behind-the-scenes look at some of the shots.

The music I picked for its slow start and then rapid pace as I get more comfortable with my drone and Premiere Pro and in the BTS section I felt that a rousing tune with vocals fit very well. I was the narrator.

One item of note is that I hiked up to the "M" multiple times and ended up getting some great shots in the morning. This is why there is the triple shot of the M from various positions.

The Extreme History Project Give Big Gallatin Valley 2021

In 2021, I worked with Crystal Alegria, the Co-Director of The Extreme History Project, to create a video for them to use during the yearly fund-raising event Give Big Gallatin Valley. They wanted something engaging, informative, and short. After coming up with talking points, I directed and filmed the interviews.

I condensed the footage to around three minutes so that viewers could get a good sense of what The Extreme History Project does and how important it is to our community in Bozeman and throughout the state of Montana. I also used a variety of music selections from Envato to help engage the audience.

Polyamory During Covid

My first interview/documentary-style video. Reaching out to a local member of the LGBTQ+ community, I was able to interview Alex about polyamory in the Bozeman area. As with any interview, I ended up learning much about the topic and Alex as well. There were some technical gaffes and unexpected answers which led different paths and helped me get a glimpse into the lives of documentarians.

Horror Recut of The Last Starfighter

The brief was to create a trailer for a movie in a different genre. The Last Starfighter was considered a space opera and I went with a horror vibe.

I wanted to make it seem like the main character, Alex, was dealing with all hostile aliens bent on destroying the world which is true to the premise of the original. I started with several scary music selections and began telling the story of Alex battling a multitude of aliens and suggesting that Alex was a bit unhinged as well. I used various other sound effects to heighten the tension as well as audio from the movie.
